A New Slice of Life
By David A. Kostival Reading Eagle correspondent.
Local favorite GNA opens a fine-dining Italian restaurant a few blocks east of its old location in West Reading.
Anyone who grew up in West Reading during the past 25 years could tell you stories about hanging out at GNA, the local pizza and sandwich shop. But just as those teenagers who hung out there eventually grew up, GNA has gone through a maturing of its own.
Dining Out

Any way you slice it, GNA pizza has been a West Reading favorite for decades. A consecutive “Best of Berks” winner for the past several years, this bustling little Penn Avenue shop has acquired a new location – only a few blocks down the street, so it’s easy to find if you follow your nose – and a spiffy new identity. Rechristened as GNA Ristorante Pizzeria, this expansive multiple-personality restaurant combines a convenient take-out shop and casual eatery with a roomy lounge and two large, atmospheric fine dining rooms. And, at this time of year, the umbrella-topped tables at the broad sidewalk café are an in-demand bonus.
Linguine alla pescatora

After successfully operating their West Reading sandwich and award-winning pizzeria business for 24 years, owners Lina and Albino Grande found their customers loved the entrees their new son-in-law Raffaele Cerandine, a native of Calabria, Italy, was preparing as daily additions to their menu.
As their business increased, the couple needed a larger dining area and kitchen; and recently moved to their elegant new GNA Ristorante & Pizzeria, which showcases Cerandine's cooking.
